Price competition between traditional taxis and ride hailing companies like Grab and Uber has become fierce, but it is mostly the drivers on both sides who are suffering the biggest losses.
The Ministry of Transport has required the Ha Noi and HCM City transport
departments to promote management, inspections and penalisation of
under nine-seat automobiles under transport contracts, Uber taxi and
Grab taxi.
Uber - a ride-sharing taxi service that uses a smart phone
application to facilitate negotiations for rides between vehicle drivers
and commuters - has appeared in Ha Noi and HCM City. The service has stirred controversy and debate about its legitimacy.
